Nick Reiner’s Troubled Past in the Spotlight Again Amid His Arrest for Dad Rob Reiner’s Death
Nick Reiner has been arrested in connection with the death of his parents Rob Reiner and Michelle Singer Reiner, and a 2016 interview with People has resurfaced and put a spotlight on Nick’s troubled history.
“I was homeless in Maine. I was homeless in New Jersey. I was homeless in Texas,” Nick explained to the outlet at the time. “I spent nights on the street. I spent weeks on the street. It was not fun.”
He revealed that his homelessness followed his refusal to go back to rehab.
“If I wanted to do it my way and not go to the programs they were suggesting, then I had to be homeless,” Nick told the publication.
However, Nick credited his experience with drugs and homelessness to helping him in co-writing the movie, Being Charlie, with his father.
“That made me who I am now, having to deal with that stuff,” he said. “I met crazy great people there, so out of my element. Now, I’ve been home for a really long time, and I’ve sort of gotten acclimated back to being in L.A. and being around my family. But there was a lot of dark years there.”
Rob and Michelle were found dead in their home on Sunday, December 14. TMZ reported that their daughter Romy Reiner discovered their bodies earlier that afternoon and both had died after their throats had been slit.
On Monday, December 15, Nick was arrested and charged with his parents’ deaths. According to Page Six, Nick is being held at Parker Center Jail in Downtown Los Angeles, with his bail set at $4 million.
