Dakota Johnson Never Got Over Chris Martin Despite Role Model Romance: ‘Still Feelings There’

The heart wants what it wants.

While Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin seemed to end their nearly eight-year, on-and-off relationship for good in 2025, a source suggests it’s only a matter of time before the pair give things another go following her recent split from singer-songwriter Role Model.

“Dakota made a big effort to move on, but she never fully put Chris in her rearview,” the source tells the National Enquirer. “There are absolutely still feelings there.”

As Enquirer previously reported, the Coldplay frontman, 49, felt “lost” post-breakup from the 50 Shades of Grey star, 36, and tried to rekindle the romance. However, she was spotted getting cozy with Role Model — whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury — by December.

“Dakota was very hurt when she and Chris broke up because it wasn’t a case of things naturally coming to an end,” notes the source. “There was a lot of conflict. She wanted to move forward with marriage and starting a family and Chris kept dragging his feet.”

“She left the relationship pretty angry and on a mission to make him regret losing her,” the source continues. “And it did seem to work — Chris has spent a lot of time missing Dakota and saying that if he got another chance he wouldn’t mess it up.”

Now, he may finally get his shot: People reported Johnson and her new 29-year-old boy toy called it quits “a while ago” in mid-August.

“It’s not hard to imagine Dakota and Chris getting on the merry-go-round all over again,” the source says. “Chris was rocked when Dakota got together with this young guy, but everyone told him that it was just a rebound situation, that he shouldn’t worry about it lasting, and that’s proven true.”
