Maria Bartiromo Abruptly Exits Fox News After 12 Years With No Reason Given
After more than 12 years at Fox News, Maria Bartiromo‘s run at the network has come to an abrupt end.
Fox News Media announced that the longtime anchor, 58, is no longer with the company, effective immediately, according to a report from People published Thursday, September 3.
“We thank Maria for her work over the last 12½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter,” the company said in a statement announcing the news, per the outlet.
A press release added that the network “parts ways” with Bartiromo and that the change is “effective today,” though the outlet reported no reason for her exit was given. She last appeared on Fox Business Network on August 7 and on Fox News two days later.
According to the article, beginning Friday, September 4, Mornings with Maria will transition into Mornings with FOX Business, bringing in a new slate of rotating anchors. Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street will be renamed FBN’s Wall Street, with Cheryl Casone hosting its return before rotating anchors take over, according to Fox.
Additionally, per the report, Fox News Channel’s Sunday Morning Futures will be hosted by Jason Chaffetz starting Sunday, September 6, with a permanent replacement to be named later.
Bartiromo first made a name for herself at CNBC, hosting Closing Bell and On the Money with Maria Bartiromo, before joining Fox in 2014 as FOX Business Network’s global markets editor. During her tenure, she interviewed President Donald Trump multiple times and comoderated two debates during the 2016 presidential race, per People.
As the National Enquirer previously reported, Bartiromo’s ties to Trump, 80, extended well beyond her interviews with him. Earlier this year, she shared a series of Instagram photos from inside the U.S. Capitol as she watched Trump’s joint address to Congress from the gallery, posing on the House floor and later on a marble staircase beneath a historic painting. She called the experience “an honor” in her caption at the time.
