Nick Reiner, who remains behind bars after being accused of murdering parents Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, is reportedly not feeling the love from his family amid the tragedy.
Sources told journalist Rob Shuter for a Wednesday, February 18, post on his Naughty But Nice Substack that the 32-year-old has had no prison visits since he was detained. Siblings Jake and Romy Reiner previously issued a statement saying that they have endured “unimaginable pain” since their parents’ December 14 deaths.
“This isn’t a misunderstanding or a minor scandal,” said a source, pointing out that Nick has been charged with killing the When Harry Met Sally… director, 78, and his wife, 70. “That changes everything.”
A source told Shuter that Jake, 34, and Romy, 28, are “mourning their parents while also trying to comprehend what he’s done,” adding: “You don’t just walk into a visiting room after that.”
“Silence isn’t about cruelty,” said a Naughty But Nice insider. “It’s about boundaries. It’s about surviving something unthinkable.”
As previously reported, the Hollywood icon and his wife were found in their California home with fatal stab wounds in the days before Christmas. Prior to their killings, the Reiners reportedly attended a holiday party at the home of Conan O’Brien, and it is believed Rob engaged in an argument with his son.
After the Reiners were found dead in their home, Nick — who has a history of mental illness and substance abuse — was located and arrested by police hours later at approximately 9:15 p.m. local time near the University of Southern California campus.
He was initially represented by high-profile attorney Alan Jackson, but during a January 7 court appearance, Jackson withdrew from the case. Nick was then appointed a public defender, and his arraignment was postponed to February 23.

Nick has not yet entered a plea.
On January 7, Jackson reiterated his belief in his former client’s innocence. “What we’ve learned and you can take this to the bank, is that pursuant to the laws of this state, Nick Reiner is not guilty of murder,” he said. “Print that. We wish him the very very best moving forward.”
According to one of Shuter’s sources, it’s “too soon” for the family to address Nick. “And for some of them, it may always be too soon.”
