Nick Reiner will have to find a way to pay for a defense team for the case involving his parents’ murders as “the family has completely cut Nick off,” according to Rob Shuter.
“They are devastated. But they realized they cannot support him anymore—not financially, not emotionally, not morally,” the gossip columnist reported in a story published on his Substack on Wednesday, January 7.
“We have no choice but to withdraw. Circumstances beyond our control—beyond Nick’s control—made it impossible to continue,” Jackson said on Wednesday, January 7.
Jackson also reiterated his belief in his former client’s innocence. “What we’ve learned and you can take this to the bank, is that pursuant to the laws of this state, Nick Reiner is not guilty of murder,” he concluded. “Print that. We wish him the very very best moving forward.”

According to Shuter, the reason for the dismissal was because Nick, 32, “refused” to meet with the legal team.
“He lashed out at staff, ignored our advice, and seemed completely detached from reality. It became impossible to defend him effectively,” an insider told Shuter.
Another insider told Shuter that Nick’s behavior was “erratic,” “threatening,” and “unpredictable.”

Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, of 35 years were found dead in the primary bedroom of their Brentwood home on December 14. Their youngest son was located and taken into custody that night. He was later booked and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Following Jackson’s dismissal, Nick was assigned public defender Kimberly Greene. The arraignment is scheduled for February 23.
