Hugh Jackman ‘Running on Empty’ Following Divorce from Deborra-Lee Furness, Sutton Foster ‘Worried’

The past few months of Hugh Jackman’s life have taken a toll on him, according to a source.

A source tells the National Enquirer that the Deadpool & Wolverine actor, 57, has “really struggled to cope with all the backlash he got over his break-up” with ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness. 

The source explains it “rocked” The Greatest Showman star “to suddenly have all these people judging him and condemning” his actions.

“Hugh’s been running on empty for months. He’s always been the type to push himself beyond the normal limits, but everyone can see he’s worn down,” the source reveals. “He hasn’t allowed himself a minute of downtime to come to grips with it. If anything, he’s been working more.”

The source also notes the two-time Tony Award winner’s girlfriend, Sutton Foster, is “worried” about him and “says she’s going to make him take a break.”

As the Enquirer previously reported, Jackman and Furness, 69 — who tied the knot in 1996 and share children Oscar, 25, and Ava, 20 — announced their amicable separation in September 2023.

However, after the X-Men star went public with Foster, 50, in January 2025, fans began to speculate that their relationship may have begun when they co-starred in the Broadway revival of The Music Man from 2022 to 2023.

Furness eventually filed for divorce in May and shared a pointed statement with the Daily Mail. 

“My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,” she told the outlet. “It’s a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.”
