On Monday, July 10, Republican senators Rand Paul of Kentucky and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin released a series of text messages from January 2021 between the immunologist, 85, former Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy and former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky, per CBS News.
In one text, Fauci said there is “no data or theoretical reason to believe that vaccinating early versus later in pregnancy would be preferred.”

In another text, Fauci noted, “I asked around a bit more, and another issue came up that you need to be aware of. Since many people have significant cytokines storm and fever after the 2nd dose, this theoretically could be associated with miscarriage in the 1st trimester.”
Senator Johnson shared this text on X, and McCain, 41, reposted it, writing, “PUT FAUCI IN JAIL!!!! (I am a woman who was pregnant and had a miscarriage during Covid).”
The former The View host then reposted a story from the New York Post on X about Fauci’s texts and wrote: “This is not hyperbole – handcuff, perp walk and put Fauci in a jail cell for the rest of his life.”

One day after Fauci questioned a link between the shot and miscarriage, he wrote in a text “in any vaccine in which data are lacking in pregnant women one must weigh the potential risks against the benefits,” and said “COVID-19 can be a serious disease especially in pregnancy,” pointing out thousands of pregnant women were vaccinated and “No issues have arisen,” according to CBS News.
The CDC website currently states, “More than a million pregnant women around the world have received an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, before and during pregnancy. Studies have shown no increased risk for complications like miscarriage, preterm delivery, stillbirth, or birth defects.”
