Meghan McCain Slams ‘Evil’ Attacks on Erika Kirk After Husband’s Assassination

Meghan McCain is going to bat for Erika Kirk and defending her against critics on social media.

“I do not understand why Erika Kirk — who saw her husband get brutally assassinated on live television is a target of such evil and cruelty,” McCain, 41, wrote in a message shared via X on Friday, March 27.

“Why are you all doing this to her? Have she and her children not suffered enough? Some of you were literally birthed in hell,” she concluded.

Several people in the replies disagreed with McCain’s take, with many referencing Erika’s multiple public appearances since her husband’s death.

“Why is she coming out to sparks on a stage? Why is she taking video of herself crying on his body?” one person wrote. “Why is she talking about merchandise sales not even a month after and smiling and laughing?”

Another added, “Well, she did a WWE style walkout at his memorial, she was caught on a hot mic talking about merch sales 11 days after he got shot, and there is a bunch of shady and weird s**t in her past.”

Erika, 37, is the widow of conservative commentator and Turning Point USA founder, Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated during the first stop of his American Comeback Tour on September 10, 2025. Charlie was speaking to a large crowd at Utah Valley University when he was shot and killed at the age of 31.

Since then, Erika has been the target of online critics.

However, some people supported McCain’s stance, with one person writing, “My heart goes out to Erika and her family. There’s no justification for the cruelty. Let’s show some humanity.”

As the National Enquirer previously reported, McCain found herself at odds with right-wing influencer Candace Owens earlier this month after Owens shared alleged screenshots of text conversations with Charlie.

While McCain didn’t respond directly to Owens, she wrote via X, “Stop sharing dead people’s text messages – you absolute psychopaths.”

It didn’t take long for Owens, 36, to clap back at McCain.

During the March 16 episode of her eponymous YouTube show, Owens “decided to answer by sharing another private text message from Charlie Kirk” and posted a screenshot of an alleged text that read, “Meghan McCain is a piece of s**t.”

“Yes, it’s real,” Owens claimed. “And I actually shortened it.”
