President Donald Trump has made tough immigration enforcement a cornerstone of his administration, yet one of his most vocal celebrity supporters isn’t a United States citizen.
According to a report Rob Shuter‘s Naughty But Nice Substack published on Saturday, October 31, Trump, 80, has no idea that Nicki Minaj — who was born in Trinidad and Tobago, and moved to America as a child — is not a U.S. citizen.
“Donald loves celebrities who adore him. He loves the attention, the photographs and having famous people tell the world how wonderful he is,” the source told Naughty But Nice. “He isn’t checking passports before deciding who gets his attention.”
“He loves having famous people around him, especially celebrities willing to defend him publicly. Nicki brings star power, headlines and another recognizable face willing to stand beside him. That is exactly the kind of attention he enjoys,” a second source told Shuter, 53.
The first source agreed that fame and praise are what earn someone a spot near the president.
“For Trump, celebrity loyalty is currency. If you’re famous and willing to praise him, you’re going to get his attention. He isn’t asking for a passport at the door,” the first source told Naughty But Nice.

Minaj doubled down in a follow-up X post on Wednesday, October 28, writing about Hochul, 68, “So not only does she keep horrible company & laugh at the demonic things her friends do behind the scenes to people who aren’t as politically powerful…Dear God, help us.”
Minaj’s growing ties to the Trump administration also sparked speculation about a possible White House role. White House communications director Steven Cheung shared a video of himself interviewing the rapper aboard Air Force One, writing on X, “Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary!” Katie Zacharia was previously the White House Press Secretary for several days following the departure of Karoline Leavitt.
No formal job offer or appointment has been announced.
