Matt Damon Reached Out to Ex Minnie Driver After Her ‘Horrible’ Car Accident: ‘It Was Very Touching’
Minnie Driver is thanking her lucky stars after getting into a terrifying car accident in Paris — and a source says ex-boyfriend Matt Damon is amongst the legions of friends and colleagues who’ve wasted no time getting in touch while offering to help in any way possible.
“Minnie is so well-respected by the acting community,” a source tells the National Enquirer. “She’s still in touch with almost everyone she’s ever worked with and Matt is on that list.”
The former couple and costars began dating while filming 1997’s Good Will Hunting but by the time the movie came out, their “sweet love affair” had met a “combustible ending,” the 56-year-old actress told Entertainment Tonight in 2022.
These days though, “they are very good friends,” shares the source. “She’s even become friendly with his wife [Luciana Barroso] so naturally, when Matt heard she’d been in this horrible car crash, he got in touch to check on her.”
On Thursday, August 6, Driver posted a video to Instagram of herself lying in bed, wearing a neck brace. The Emily in Paris star revealed that she’d suffered a sprained neck after getting T-boned by another vehicle in France and shared that she was “so grateful to be alive.”
Damon, 55, has “all the best physiotherapists and trainers on speed dial and offered to connect her with whoever she needs to heal and get back to normal,” reveals the source. “Luciana was worried about her too. She got on the call to check in and tell Minnie how happy she and Matt are that she’s okay.”
The couple’s kindness was not lost on Driver, either.
“It was very touching and much appreciated because Minnie has been very shaken by this accident,” says the Enquirer‘s source. “It was such a horribly close call.”
