Hugh Jackman ‘Planning’ Life With Sutton Foster — Engagement ‘Inevitable,’ but No Prenup in Sight (Exclusive)

Hugh Jackman is ready to take the next steps with his girlfriend, Sutton Foster, following his divorce from Deborra-Lee Furness.

A source exclusively tells the National Enquirer that the Deadpool & Wolverine star, 56, is “so relieved” that his divorce — which was finalized in June — is behind him and is now “purely looking ahead and planning out the rest of his life with Sutton.”

“An engagement is inevitable,” shares the source. “As soon as Sutton and Ted [Griffin] are officially done, Hugh will be getting down on one knee and making things official.”

Foster, 50, filed to end her nearly 10-year mararige to Griffin — with whom she shares a daughter, Emily, 8 — in October 2024, but it has yet to be finalized.

When it comes to Jackman’s future with Foster, the source says that “Hugh’s adamant he doesn’t want or need a prenup.”

“He has all these ambitious plans to go into business with Sutton, so his rationale is that anything they make together would be a fair 50-50 split, and he’ll hold onto what he walked into the marriage with anyhow,” the source explains.

However, “the folks who handle his finances are imploring him to reconsider,” adds the source, but The Greatest Showman actor is remaining firm in his decision.

“He says he trusts Sutton,” the source claims. “She’s his soulmate, and there’s no need for any type of financial protection.”

As the Enquirer previously reported, Jackman and Furness, 69 — who married in 1996 and share children Oscar, 25, and Ava, 20 — announced their separation in September 2023. At the time, the pair released a joint statement to People, saying they’d “undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness.”

But when the X-Men star and the two-time Tony Award winner went public with their relationship in January 2025, his relationship with Furness became strained. Rumors initially swirled that Jackman and Foster’s relationship began while they co-starred in the Broadway revival of The Music Man from 2022 to 2023.

After Furness filed for divorce on May 27, a source told the Enquirer that “Deb’s clearly feeling he stabbed her in the back.”

Furness made a statement to the Daily Mail in May, expressing her hurt.

“My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,” she told the outlet. “It’s a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.”

“This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage,” she continued. “I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience. Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose.”
