Candace Owens Declares President Trump ‘Betrayed the American People,’ Calls Him a ‘Coward’

Candace Owens, the political commentator who was once an avid supporter of President Donald Trump, has had a change of heart.

In the Monday, March 9, episode (titled “Donald Trump Has Betrayed America”) of her self-titled YouTube show, she sounded off on the 79-year-old president’s return to the White House.

“Donald Trump has very clearly betrayed the American people,” Owens, 36, said at the top of the episode. “You need to accept that. I’ve had to accept that.”

Later in the hourlong show, she told viewers, “I have not exactly found the correct words to communicate how I feel about President Donald Trump. I sort of ignore the topic of his existence altogether because it kind of sickens me. As it should.”

Since Charlie Kirk’s assassination at age 31 on September 10, 2025, after he was killed while speaking at Utah Valley University as part of his American Comeback Tour, Owens has touted conspiracy theories and said again Monday that she believes Kirk “was the first casualty of the war in Iran.”

Owens said she feels the Apprentice alum — who recently launched surprise airstrikes on Iran — “has loyalty to no one but himself.”

Owens pointed out how Trump “promised low gas prices, and he promised no more forever wars, no more involvement in Middle East conflict, and we’re now getting the exact opposite.”

She called Trump “a coward” and said “that’s going to be his legacy.”

During the episode, Owens also brought up the Epstein files, saying that the Trump administration is gaslighting the American people with how they are handling the release of documents related to late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“I’ve been off that hardcore MAGA Trump train for a while,” Owens revealed, explaining how she can’t believe how Trump’s presidency has played out despite him surviving two assassination attempts before he was reelected.

“Obviously, I think that the thing that does let me down the most — that has been so shocking to me — is for him to have survived the assassination attempt, and what he is dedicating the rest of his time to is destroying America for Israel,” she said.

“I can’t even comprehend what is going on,” she added. “It sucks. It absolutely sucks. And I think a lot of people right now just feel completely duped. Completely duped.”
