Jake and Romy Reiner Reportedly Won’t Attend Brother Nick’s Trial for Murdering Their Parents

Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner‘s children Jake and Romy do not plan to be in the courtroom when their brother Nick’s murder trial happens, according to Rob Shuter.

In the Thursday, February 26, edition of Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack, a source claimed Jake, 34, and Romy, 28, “will not attend the trial,” because “sitting in that room would be too painful.”

A second source noted that the tragic situation has “devastated the entire family.”

“They’re grieving in their own way. Protecting their mental health has to come first,” the source explained. “They’re still heartbroken. But they’re doing what they need to do to move forward.”

As the National Enquirer previously reported, Rob, 78, and Michele, 70, were found dead in their Brentwood home on December 14. Their younger son, Nick, 32, was arrested that evening in Exposition Park and accused of fatally stabbing his parents, according to a news release from the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office.

On Monday, February 23, Nick — who has a history of substance abuse and mental illness — appeared in court for his arraignment and pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder related to the deaths of his parents, per Deadline.

While Nick is currently being represented by a public defender, his former attorney, Alan Jackson, reiterated his belief in Nick’s innocence during a January 7 press conference.

“What we’ve learned and you can take this to the bank, is that pursuant to the laws of this state, Nick Reiner is not guilty of murder,” Jackson stated. “Print that. We wish him the very very best moving forward.”
