Cary Elwes, who Reiner directed in 1987’s The Princess Bride, shared a photo on Instagram of their empty chairs from the flick’s set with the caption, “No words …”
Legendary Beatle Paul McCartney, who worked with Reiner on 2025’s Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, called him an “upbeat, lovable man” on Instagram.

Colleague Ron Howardcalled Reiner a “superlative filmmaker” and a “dedicated citizen” on X.
And the family of late TV legend Norman Lear — who worked with Rob’s dad, Carl, on Sid Caesar’s Your Show of Shows and cast the younger Reiner on All in the Family — said they are “devastated” by the deaths, per Variety. The Lears added, “Norman would have wanted to remind us that Rob and Michele spent every breath trying to make this country a better place.”
