Rob and Michele Singer Reiner’s son Nick — who was arrested in connection with their Sunday, December 14 stabbing deaths — has been struggling with behavioral issues since childhood, a yoga teacher who worked with the family has revealed.

“My very first children’s book was inspired by Nicky Reiner. During private yoga sessions with his parents, Nicky often barged in, upset about something, breaking up our flow,” Alanna Zabel, author of the 2012 book A Chair in the Air, wrote on Instagram on Monday, December 15.

“His parents asked me to teach Nicky privately, to help him manage his big emotions, which we did,” she continued. “Michele and Rob Reiner were incredibly kind, generous, creative and passionate people who loved deeply. I am deeply saddened to hear of their tragic passing today.”

The Reiners also sought family therapy for the “intense kid,” who has an older brother, Jake, 34, and a younger sister, Romy, 28, Zabel, who worked with him for 10 years, told the Daily Mail.

Nick, 32, went on to struggle with addictions and was sent to rehab for the first of multiple times at 15. In a 2018 episode of the Dopey podcast, he described how he once destroyed his parents’ guesthouse while high.

“I got totally spun out on uppers. I think it was coke and something else,” Nick told host David Mannheim.

“I was up for days on end. I started punching out different things in my guest house. I started with the TV and then went over to the lamp. Everything in the guesthouse got wrecked,” he continued adding that his actions weren’t about relieving tension. “No, you’re crazy. No logic.”

The night before Rob, 78, and Michele, 68, died, Nick reportedly had a loud argument with his father at Conan O’Brien’s holiday party, where he was acting “creepily,” a source told Us Weekly.

He is reportedly being held without bail at Parker Center Jail in Downtown Los Angeles, per People.
