Two men have been arrested by the FBI after scamming multiple women into believing one of them was a wealthy investor who also played for the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers.
According to a press release from the Justice Department, Daejon Labrayae Love and Taylor Jamie Chan were taken into federal custody on Monday, August 24, and charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud.
The duo is accused of using fake social media accounts and fictitious investment opportunities to defraud women of money in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and California. To do this, Love, 35, would pose as either a wealthy real estate investor or a player for the 49ers. He would then convince the women, who believed they were in a legitimate relationship with him, to invest in fake opportunities.

To make the scheme appear legitimate, Chan,18, allegedly posed as Love’s financial advisor, sending messages about fake investment opportunities and joining three-way FaceTime calls with the women.
If a victim didn’t have enough cash to invest, Love allegedly encouraged her to take out a personal loan with the promise of a massive return on their investment quickly.
Once the alleged victims had no more money, or if they asked too many questions, the Justice Department said Love and Chan would block them and cut off all contact. They allegedly ran this scheme for four years until their arrest. In total, they’re accused of scamming people out of $1.3 million.
Love and Chan are currently in federal custody in Boise, Idaho.
