Rosie O’Donnell Responds to Kathy Griffin’s Complaint She ‘Hurt’ Amid ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ Gig

Kathy Griffin didn’t hold back after longtime friend Rosie O’Donnell did not invite her to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which the former View star is currently guest-hosting.

“My feelings are really hurt that I was not invited to go on Rosie’s week of the Jimmy Kimmel show,” Griffin, 65, said in a video shared to Instagram on Tuesday, August 18. “I thought, ‘Well, she’s the guest host. She may have no say in it.’ And to this day, I don’t know if she has any say in it. As far as I know, she could or could not.”

“She’s doing a great job and will continue to,” Griffin added. “I just think it’s a tricky situation because I’m having all kinds of feels.”

While many took to the comments section to call out the comedian for her cringey remarks, O’Donnell, 64, publicly reached out to her friend. “Kathy- shoulda called me honey – I didn’t choose the guests…” the former Rosie O’Donnell Show host wrote.

Others, like Everybody Loves Raymond alum Brad Garrett, were not so kind.

“So tacky,” Garrett, 66, commented.

Comedian Luenell joked, “Rosie has been killing it. How do you think I’m feeling? I didn’t get a chance to co-host At ALL!!!! 😩.”

O’Donnell — who relocated her family to Dublin, Ireland, in January 2025 — is currently filling in for Jimmy Kimmel, making her talk show return on Monday, August 17.

Guests on her week of shows include Ted Lasso‘s Hannah Waddingham, Jean Smart, Charlie Day, Megan Mullally, Nick Offerman and more.
