Pete Davidson is pushing back on what he sees as a familiar pattern in Hollywood.

During a conversation with host Theo Von on the September 23 episode of his This Past Weekend podcast, Davidson discussed the rapid shifts in public perception, pointing to Pedro Pascal, who he says is now dealing with the flip side of fame.

“They can’t wait, right?” said Davidson. “F**king two years ago, he’s a hardworking, great actor. But everyone was like, ‘He’s worked so hard and has been a struggling actor.’ F**kng blows up so f**King hard. Everyone’s like, ‘Daddy, daddy! Yeah, daddy, daddy.’”

“Then a year later, he’s, like, in everything now ’cause he’s hot and big,” the comedian continued, “and everyone’s like, ‘Go the f**k away, dude.’”

Davidson, 31, noted how Pascal, 50, has been “banging at it for 30 years” and is only now learning to navigate fame on such a massive scale. “You got to give that guy a f**king second to, like, adjust,” he added.

The Saturday Night Live alum’s comments come as Pascal continues to dominate headlines. Dubbed “The Summer of Pedro,” the Chilean-born actor recently starred in multiple projects, including his final appearance in season 2 of The Last of Us, Ari Aster’s film Eddington, and Materialists alongside Dakota Johnson and Chris Evans. Pascal also made his Marvel debut as Reed Richards in The Fantastic Four: First Steps and will reprise the role in Avengers: Doomsday.

Davidson warned that Pascal’s situation is not unique. He predicted that Walton Goggins, who earned widespread acclaim for his turn as Rick Hatchett in The White Lotus season 3, will face a similar turn in public perception.

“They’re going to do it with Walton Goggins … next,” Davidson said. “It’s like we build everybody up. It’s, like, so fast to turn [on the celebrity].”

Von agreed with Davidson, calling the backlash “crazy.” Davidson responded simply: “Bro. It’s, like, within months.”
