Nick Reiner’s Attorney Announces He Is No Longer Representing Him in Murder Case

Nick Reiner is now being represented by a public defender.

During a hearing on Wednesday, January 7, L.A. County Deputy Public Defender Kimberly Green was named as the new attorney for the 32-year-old — who has been charged with the December 14 murders of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner — replacing high-powered lawyer Alan Jackson.

“Uh, yeah I agree with that,” Nick, who has not yet entered a plea, told the judge of the change, per TMZ.

A spokesperson for the Reiner family released a statement to The New York Times, saying “they have the utmost trust in the legal process and will not comment further on matters related to the legal proceedings.”

Jackson previously represented Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein when they were accused of sexual assault, as well as Karen Read, who was found not guilty of the murder of her boyfriend in June.

“We ask that during this process, you allow the system to move forward in the way that it was designed to move forward,” Jackson told reporters on December 17, per the BBC. “Not with a rush to judgement, not with jumping to conclusions, but with restraint and with dignity, and with the respect that this system and this process deserves, and that the family deserves.”

Per the New York Times, the judge rescheduled Nick’s arraignment for February 23.
