Nick Reiner Reportedly ‘Almost Childlike’ In Jail, Unable to Mentally Process Murder of His Parents
Nick Reiner is reportedly struggling with his mental state in jail, where he has been since his arrest for the alleged murder of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner Singer.
Harvey Levin told Fox & Friends on Monday, January 19, that Nick is not able to fully grasp the consequences of his actions and why he’s in jail.
“He is not competent to stand trial right now. He is almost childlike in jail, we’re told,” the TMZ executive producer, 75, said.
“He knows what he did,” Levin added. “He just can’t understand where he is right now, and I know that sounds crazy, but he is out of his head right now.”
Nick was formally charged with two counts of first-degree murder with a special circumstance of multiple murders. He has not yet entered a plea as his initial arraignment was postponed until February 23.
The National Enquirer previously reported that Nick was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder around 2020, which can cause hallucinations and delusions along with mood disorder symptoms including depression, mania or hypomania. He was on medication but doctors had recently changed up his meds after he complained of weight gain.
Levin told Fox & Friends that the medication change likely contributed to his mental state when he committed the murders, which he described as “incredibly brutal.”
“We know people in the medical examiner’s office who are traumatized just by the pictures,” he claimed.
“It has the markings of somebody who was just wild, wildly strong. We have not gotten the confirmation of that, but we’ve talked to people… If he were just Nick Reiner without something additional, the carnage wouldn’t have been the way it was,” Levin said.
On Wednesday, January 7, Nick’s former lawyer Alan Jackson reiterated his belief in his former client’s innocence. “What we’ve learned and you can take this to the bank, is that pursuant to the laws of this state, Nick Reiner is not guilty of murder,” he said. “Print that. We wish him the very very best moving forward.”
