Ellen DeGeneres Turns to Hypnosis to Help With Hollywood Comeback: ‘Feeling Pretty Beat Up In Life’

Ellen DeGeneres is using hypnotism to help with TV comeback plans and improve her 17-year marriage to wife Portia De Rossi, a source tells the National Enquirer.

“Hypnosis is a tool she and Portia both believe in and use,” the source reveals.

In 2006, the former daytime talk show host, 68, underwent hypnosis on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in an effort to stop smoking — and she’s hardly the only one in Hollywood to become entranced.

However, “people can’t help but wonder if [Ellen] and Portia are being taken for a ride with this stuff,” admits the source. “It’s not like you can hypnotize yourself. You have to hire a specialist to come to your home and do this to you, and that isn’t cheap.”

DeGeneres and de Rossi, 53, can certainly afford at-home hypnotherapy. Per Celebrity Net Worth, the couple have a combined $550 million to their name.

“They’re [not] going to go broke doing this stuff,” the Enquirer’s source notes, “but Ellen hasn’t settled on her next moneymaking venture and her and Portia’s hobby of renovating homes is also pretty cost-intensive.”

“Truth is, she’s feeling pretty beat up in life right now and needs a boost, which she believes hypnosis is providing,” says the source. “But in this situation, her open-mindedness about dubious techniques like hypnosis could blow up in her face.

Adds the source: “She’s vulnerable right now, and that creates an opportunity for people to take advantage of her and Portia, unfortunately!”
