A sharp-eyed thrift store shopper paid $18.99 for a wedding gown that Carrie Bradshaw wore in Sex and the City — and then sold it for $2,750!
Then, in an ironic twist, fashion reseller Ashley Cano used the windfall to pay for her divorce!
“I believe it was a blessing for both of us,” gushes newlywed Sophia Corin Merlino to People, who wore the Vera Wang gown on her big day.

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker wore the strapless stunner, originally priced at $7,500, in the first Sex and the City movie for a Vogue photo shoot about Carrie being a bride over 40.
Ashley posted the “Eleanor” gown on the Poshmark website after finding it at Goodwill in February 2025.

When Sophia saw the dress on the site, she realized she’d collaborated with Ashley at a work event years earlier.
“My first thought was, ‘I need this dress.’ My second thought was, ‘I know this girl!’ ” recalls Sophia, 28.
She immediately reached out to Ashley — even though she wasn’t even engaged yet!
“When it fit me perfectly, I knew it was the one,” Sophia says.
Ashley had said on social media that she planned to use the resale money to pay her divorce lawyer, adding: “Didn’t think it would come in the way of a wedding dress but I’m not complaining.”
When Sophia wed Bobby Ernsting, 28, on Feb. 13, she says: “I felt like a princess, and this dress felt like the only one worthy to wear to marry my prince.”
