West Virginia Woman Stabbed In Chicken Coop Burglary Wanted By Authorities

A West Virginia woman is wanted by authorities for allegedly forcing her way into a chicken coop that was being used a residence and threatening the occupant, who stabbed her before she fled the scene.

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office said that on March 31, Deputy H.R. Shamblin and Cpl. J.S. Ashcraft responded to a reported disturbance Big Sandy Road. They arrived and met James Hammack and his daughter, Ashley Thompson, who are currently living in a chicken coop.

Hammack told deputies that he was walking back to the coop when he allegedly heard the suspect, Anna Groves, scream, “I’m going to kill you.”

Anna Groves and Jason Groves then allegedly attempted to force entry into the coop, where Thompson was sleeping. Anna Groves allegedly entered the coop and told Thompson she was going to kill her. Thompson then allegedly stabbed Groves, and both Jason and Anna Groves fled the scene.

The sheriff’s office was later contacted by the Charleston Police Department reporting a female stabbing victim at CAMC General Hospital. Ashcroft met with Anna Groves at the hospital, and in a recorded statement, she said she did not threaten to kill Thompson but intended to “beat her” over money Thompson had allegedly stolen.

The sheriff’s office said no charges have been filed against Thompson in relation to the stabbing. Instead, Anna Groves is being charged with felony burglary, and a warrant has been issued for her arrest.
