A West Virginia man is facing charges for allegedly fatally shooting a security guard at a resort, authorities said.
The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded Monday to the guard shack at The Resort at Glade Springs near Beckley for a report of a shooting. They arrived to find a security guard with an apparent gunshot wound.
The guard was transported to a hospital, where he ultimately died of his injuries.
“Extensive investigation” led authorities to identify 60-year-old Michael Lloyd Taylor as the suspect, and he was taken into custody without incident.
Taylor was charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
The sheriff’s office did not provide any details on a possible motive for the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.
