Wendi McLendon-Covey was noticeably absent during the Bridesmaids reunion at the Oscars on Sunday, March 15, later blaming a recent “neck lift” operation.
Rob Shuter has reported that there is more to the story.
“If she had been invited, she would have delayed the surgery,” an industry source told Shuter for his Naughty But Nice Substack on Tuesday, March 17. “Nobody passes up an historic Oscars moment like that.”
The insider added, “Something about the timing feels strange. That reunion was one of the night’s biggest moments. And it was planned months in advance.”
Bridesmaids stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne and Ellie Kemper appeared on stage to celebrate the beloved comedy’s 15th anniversary.

“In response to some of the dms I’m getting: I had a neck lift last week because I’m tired of looking like a melting candle,” McLendon-Covey shared via Instagram after the ceremony alongside a photo showing off her bandaged head. “So I had to skip the Academy Awards. No drama. Everything is fine.”
The Dr. Denis Medical star received a ton of support from her famous friends who appreciated the honesty and wished her a speedy recovery.
