Virginia Beach Authorities Search For Owner Of Abandoned Blind Dog ‘Blossom’

Authorities in Virginia are seeking the public’s help identifying the owner of an abandoned dog who was found blind, emaciated, and with almost no fur.

Virginia Beach Animal Services, a division of the Virginia Beach Police Department, shared photos of the abandoned dog, now named “Blossom,” seeking information from anyone who may recognize her or have information about her owner.

Blossom was found abandoned near South Plaza Trail and Holland Road in “extremely poor physical condition,” the agency said, but, “despite everything, she has been incredibly sweet and gentle with staff.”

In the photos, Blossom has pink, exposed skin over much of her body, with only patchy fur visible on her back, and what appear to be minor wounds. She is severely emaciated, and fully blind. The shelter provided her with a “Halo collar” which helps blind dogs navigate their environment.

“We understand that seeing an animal in this condition may be upsetting. At this time, our focus is on identifying her owner, gathering information, and ensuring she receives the care and support she needs,” the agency said.
