‘Very Pregnant’ Mini Horse Back Home After ‘Midnight Adventure’ In Louisiana

A “very pregnant” miniature horse in Louisiana is back with its owners after it was found “wandering” along a road at night, officials said.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office said patrol officers found the mini horse on Lake Ramsey Road during the night shift.

“Because ‘about to give birth’ is the perfect time for a solo adventure,” the sheriff’s office joked. A nearby resident offered to help mind the horse overnight while deputies worked to find her owner. The next morning, deputies took their search door-to-door, asking neighbors, “have you seen this pregnant horse?”

It turned out her owners had already been searching for several hours. They initially thought the horse, named Cheyenne, may have taken herself into the woods to give birth, but instead found a broken fence. The sheriff’s office said that fence is now being fixed “immediately.”

Cheyenne is now safely back with her family.

“Deputy Dugas is casually adding ‘mini horse maternity escort’ to his résumé,” the sheriff’s office joked. “We’re glad this story had a happy ending… and we’ll be waiting on baby pictures.”
