Utah Traffic Stop Leads To Discovery Of 330,000 Fentanyl Pills Worth $3 Million
A routine traffic stop in Utah led to the seizure of $3 million worth of fentanyl pills and two arrests, authorities said.
The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy conducted a traffic stop for a traffic infraction in Monticello on July 1. But when the stories of the vehicle’s two occupants seemed “inconsistent,” the deputy requested consent to search the vehicle.
Both occupants consented to the search, according to the sheriff’s office, which revealed approximately 73 pounds of fentanyl pills hidden in a compartment within the vehicle. That works out to approximately 330,000 pills, valued at approximately $3 million.
The sheriff’s office did not immediately release the identities of the vehicle’s occupants, both of whom were transported to the San Juan County Jail. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
