A Florida man was rescued after falling unconscious while working in a tree, causing him to dangle upside down in a “homemade harness,” officials said.
DeLand Fire Rescue crews responded to S. Salisbury Avenue Thursday following reports that a man became unresponsive while working in a tree and was suspended upside down.
A firefighter climbed an aerial ladder and found the man was hanging in a “homemade harness that appeared to be at risk of falling.”
The man remained unresponsive as crews secured him in a “quick rope harness” to prevent a fall. The man was then safely removed from the tree.
EMS personnel evaluated the man at the scene, but he was transported to the hospital by a family member, the fire department said.
