Timothy Busfield ‘Canceled’ By Hollywood ‘Regardless of the Verdict’ In Child Sex Abuse Case (Exclusive)

Timothy Busfield is determined to beat the charges in his child sex abuse case.

“He denies the allegations in the criminal complaint and maintains they are completely false,” his lawyer, Stanton “Larry” Stein, previously said in a statement to the National Enquirer.

Salvaging his career, however, is another matter entirely.

“He’s already been canceled in the entertainment industry regardless of the verdict,” a source says of the West Wing alum, 68, who was indicted by a grand jury on four counts of criminal contact of a child earlier this month.

Busfield’s finances have seemingly taken a hit, too.

“This case has already cost him a fortune in legal fees,” the Enquirer’s source reveals. “It’ll run into many hundreds of thousands” and neither he nor wife Melissa Gilbert “are all that wealthy, at least not by Hollywood standards.”

The Emmy-winning actor and the Little House on the Prairie star, 61, are both estimated to have $500,000 to their names, per celebritynetworth.com.

“They’re looking at downsizing their home and retiring somewhere low-key and modest once this is eventually behind them,” says the source.

As the Enquirer previously reported, Gilbert plans to stand by her husband of nearly 13 years.

“Melissa’s support is unwavering,” notes the source. “She’s put a lot of her work on pause and cut off a lot of friends and acquaintances in the industry who haven’t [lent] their support towards Timothy.”

To a lot of folks, though, “it feels like misplaced loyalty,” says the source. “[They] hate seeing Melissa running around after him 24/7 like this and are begging her to protect herself.”
