Timothee Chalamet ‘Pulling Back’ From Spotlight After Oscars Loss: ‘Idea Is To Make People Miss Him’ (Exclusive)

Timothée Chalamet has been in a major funk since losing the Best Actor Oscar to Michael B. Jordan in March, reveals a source, who says friends and loved ones led by girlfriend Kylie Jenner are struggling to cheer him up.

“Timmy has had a tough 2026 in terms of his public image and the Oscar slipping through his fingers,” the source tells the National Enquirer.

The Marty Supreme star, 30, landed in hot water in the lead-up to the Academy Awards after claiming that “no one cares” about ballet or opera anymore while chatting with former Interstellar castmate Matthew McConaughey at a Variety & CNN Town Hall in February.

“Pulling back from public appearances, podcasts and interviews was the only card he could play,” the source notes, “and the idea is to make people miss him a bit before he’s everywhere again.”

Will Chalamet’s plan work, though?

“The bigger question among Timmy and his team is about how much long-term damage he did to himself and his image,” the source says of the actor’s much-maligned Oscars campaign.

The third and final installment of the Dune franchise hits theaters in mid-December and the sequel to his box office smash hit Wonka is already in pre-production, according to IMDB.

“He has the opportunity to win back the good will … of his audience,” says the Enquirer’s source. “Timmy needs to lay low and he needs to let the work speak for itself. Thankfully, that process has already begun.”
