Suspect Arrested In Burglary At California Grow Operation, Marijuana Worth Hundreds Of Thousands Stolen
Authorities in California have arrested a suspect in connection with a burglary at a cannabis grow operation in which hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of cannabis was stolen, as investigation continues into a second burglary at the same location.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office said they responded shortly before 2 a.m. on Jan. 17 to a report of a burglary at a cannabis grow operation on the 4000 block of Foothill Road, and arrived to find the suspects had already fled the scene. According to the sheriff’s office, marijuana stolen in the burglary was valued at “hundreds of thousands of dollars.”
Investigators identified 22-year-old Dvaryae Bryant of Los Angeles as a suspect in the burglary, and began coordinating with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), which was separately investigating Bryant.
Bryant was arrested at his residence on the 2300 block of South Victoria Avenue on Feb. 18. Law enforcement recovered a short-barrel assault rifle Bryant allegedly threw from a window during the arrest.
A search warrant was executed on the 12000 block of Cranbrook Avenue in Hawthorne and authorities seized approximately 15 pounds of processed cannabis, additional firearms and thousands of dollars in cash.
The firearms and cash recovered in the search were seized by the LAPD as part of their investigation. Bryant was booked into the Van Nuys Jail on local charges, and following court proceedings in Los Angeles, he will be extradited to Santa Barbara County on a no-bail felony warrant for burglary, conspiracy, grand theft, and a gang enhancement.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains ongoing, and detectives are looking into possible links between this case and a second burglary at the same grow operation on Feb. 4, as well as other, similar burglaries in Santa Barbara County.
