A Survivor competitor nearly lost his life while vying for prize money on the hit show, the National Enquirer can reveal.
Stavros Floros, an influencer and beekeeper, was spearfishing in the waters off of the Dominican Republic when disaster struck, with the 21-year-old getting his leg cut off by a razor-sharp boat propeller, according to a Daily Mail report.
Emergency services rushed in to administer first aid as the contestant bled heavily and uncontrollably, but it would reportedly take 40 whole minutes to transport him to the nearest hospital, Centro Médico Central Romana, according to Tovima.com, a Greek news site.
According to authorities, Stavros had been “diving without a surface marker buoy in an area frequented by tourist vessels,” The Toronto Sun reported.
His alleged mistake left the handsome contender mutilated after a ship named Adrian III seemingly failed to notice him swimming: Aside from the gruesome partial amputation of Stavros’ left leg, it led to major trauma on his right ankle.
The captain of the injurious outboard engine boat was reportedly detained for questioning.
Instead of the shirtless selfies he usually posts to Instagram and TikTok, Stavros — wearing a wooden cross around his neck — shared a sad video on Instagram from his hospital bed on May 17.
