Robert Edwards — the Utah entrepreneur who gained national attention after his Squatty Potty toilet stool became a breakout success on Shark Tank — has pleaded not guilty to a federal charge of receiving child sexual abuse material.
Edwards, 50, was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 10, according to the Department of Justice, per People, He was arrested in Washington County, Utah, and entered a not guilty plea during his first court appearance on Monday, February 23. He will remain in custody until a March 2 detention hearing.
Prosecutors allege that Edwards “knowingly received” multiple images of child sexual abuse material between March 2021 and November 2025. Per the outlet, according to court documents, the investigation began when an undercover FBI agent joined an online chat group suspected of trading illicit content and later identified Edwards as a participant.

In May 2025, agents flagged PayPal transactions tied to his account as potentially related to illegal purchases. A search warrant executed on November 4, 2025, allegedly uncovered explicit images and videos on his electronic devices.
If convicted, Edwards faces significant federal penalties.
Edwards and his mom, Judy, first appeared on Shark Tank’s Season 6 in 2014. Investor Lori Greiner offered the duo $350,000 in exchange for 10 percent equity of their bathroom accessory company, per fanpage Shark Tank Fandom.
