Reward Offered After Snowmobiler Causes $21,000 In Damage At Maine Tree Nursery

The Maine Warden Service announced a reward for information about a snowmobile rider who allegedly caused some $21,000 in damages at a tree nursery in late February.

The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife said the Warden Service is seeking the public’s help identifying a snowmobile rider who traveled off a marked trail and through a “roped off area” at Pierson Nurseries in Dayton sometime between Thursday, Feb. 26, and Saturday, Feb. 28.

The snowmobiler ran over and damaged “numerous small trees and saplings,” causing an estimated $21,000 in damage.

Photos shared by the agency show a a deep snowmobile trail through the snow, running directly over certain rows of crushed trees and saplings.

“Saco Pathfinders Snowmobile Club and Maine Snowmobile Association are each offering $500, and Maine Operation Game Thief is offering $1,000, for a total reward of $2,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible,” the agency said.
