“Colbert is finally finished at CBS. Amazing that he lasted so long! No talent, no ratings, no life. He was like a dead person,” the commander-in-chief, 79, wrote on Truth Social on Friday, May 22. “You could take any person off of the street and they would be better than this total jerk. Thank goodness he’s finally gone!”

The legendary late-night host, 62, did not mention Trump once in the broadcast. Instead, he reflected on his 11-year run and welcomed a slew of A-listers.
The episode also featured two musical performances, which included Colbert. The Emmy Award winner first took the stage with Louis Cato, Jon Batiste, and Elvis Costello singing Costello’s 1977 track “Jump Up.” Colbert then jammed out with McCartney, 83, and The Great Big Joy Machine as they performed The Beatles’ “Hello Goodbye,” and all The Late Show staff joined them at the end.
As the National Enquirer previously reported, Trump and Colbert have both been vocal critics of each other. In July, after CBS announced the long-running late-night show would come to an end in May 2026, the president made a Truth Social post to celebrate, writing in part, “I absolutely love that Colbert got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings.”
