NY Middle School Teacher Allegedly Gave Child Psychedelic Mushrooms

A former special education teacher in upstate New York was arrested Tuesday for allegedly giving a child psychedelic mushrooms at her home late last year, authorities said.

The City of Geneva Police Department said 33-year-old Trista Corey was arrested at around 10 a.m. Tuesday for endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, in connection with an incident that took place in December 2025.

According to police, the incident took place at Corey’s home. She allegedly provided psilocybin mushrooms, a controlled substance, to a child under the age of 17. Psilocybin mushrooms are known to induce hallucinations and other sensory effects.

Corey was employed as a special education teacher at Geneva Middle School at the time of the incident, but has since been terminated.

“As soon as the district became aware of the allegations, it promptly notified law enforcement and immediately addressed Ms. Corey’s employment status. She is no longer employed by the district,” the Geneva City School District said in a statement.

Corey was issued a ticket to appear in court at a later date. Police said the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to come forward or submit an anonymous tip.
