After more than $80,000 was raised in a bid to help Mickey Rourke avoid being evicted from his Los Angeles home, the Wrestler star claimed he had no idea that a fundraiser had ever been created. Now, his manager, Kimberly Hines, has fired back at those claims.
Hines, who has been Rourke’s manager for 9 years, spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the situation.
“We said, ‘Mickey, there’s some people that want to help you out,’” she told the outlet in an interview published on Tuesday, January 6. “He’s like, ‘OK, great.’ I don’t think he understood, and now it’s taken on this media frenzy, and he flipped out.”
“Somebody set up some kind of foundation or fund for me to donate money like charity, and that’s not me,” he said. “I’d rather, if I needed money, I wouldn’t ask for no fing charity. I’d rather stick a gun up my ass and pull the trigger.”
His admission seemingly took Hines by surprise.
“No one’s touched this GoFundMe money. This money has been to help Mickey. If Mickey doesn’t want the money, the money will go back,” she continued. “It’s putting me in a very bad position where now I’m financing his move and the hotel and the movers and his storage. Mickey was cool with getting help the other day. And now Mickey’s like, ‘I’m not taking charity.’”

Plus, Hines remained adamant that Rourke’s claims of not being aware of the GoFundMe being started were “not true.”
“That’s not true. But I understand that he has to say that. We’re all here to help Mickey and get him back on his feet, get him back to work, get him back making movies and telling stories and creating characters and being the Mickey Rourke that we all have known and love,” she explained. “That’s my goal. If Mickey doesn’t want this help from people that want to support him and his fans, then that money will be returned.”
