Lindsey Vonn, 41, gave fans a raw update on her latest setback, sharing a powerful Instagram post on Tuesday, February 3, that mixed celebration, heartbreak and classic Vonn resilience.
The Olympic ski legend posted a carousel of photos from the Audi FIS Ski World Cup in Cortina d’Ampezzo on Tuesday, February 3. In one, she was front and center in full race gear, surrounded by teammates and supporters while holding flowers and posing behind a banner reading “3 Victories (New Women’s World Record) Congratulations Lindsey!” The images show Vonn bundled in a neon yellow ski jacket, black beanie, gloves and goggles — all smiles on the podium despite what was happening behind the scenes.

In the caption, Vonn revealed she “completely tore her ACL last Friday,” along with sustaining a bone bruise and meniscal tears — a crushing blow that came just one week before the Olympics. She admitted the news was “incredibly hard” to process, especially so close to the Games, but thanked fans for giving her space to regroup and figure out her next move.

“After extensive consultations with doctors, intense therapy, physical tests as well as skiing today, I have determined I am capable of competing in the Olympic Downhill on Sunday,” she added. “Of course I will still need to do one training run, as is required to race on Sunday, but… I am confident in my body’s ability to perform.”
Other snaps in the post show a more personal side, including Vonn posing with family members on the snowy slopes and sharing a tender moment with her father Alan Kildow, 73, bundled up beside her.
Fans quickly flooded the comments with support, dropping ❤️💪🔥 emojis and messages, including “You’re a warrior” and “Legend no matter what.” One thing’s clear: injured or not, Vonn’s fighting spirit isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
