Leonardo DiCaprio Explains Why He Covers His Face in Public: ‘Disappear As Much As You Possibly Can’
Leonardo DiCaprio has revealed why he almost always wears a mask when he is out on the street.
Speaking to Time magazine after being named the publication’s “Entertainer of the Year,” the A-lister, 51, talked about being in the public eye for more three decades.
“It’s been a balance I’ve been managing my whole adult life, and still I’m not an expert,” he said in the interview published Monday, December 8. “I think my simple philosophy is only get out there and do something when you have something to say, or you have something to show for it. Otherwise, just disappear as much as you possibly can.”
“I was like, ‘OK, how do I have a long career?” he continued. “Because I love what I do, and I feel like the best way to have a long career is to get out of people’s face.”
He started wearing the face mask during the COVID-19 pandemic, and has continued using the covering ever since, making himself even harder to spot.
The one thing he has continued to get attention for is his love life. Up until 2023, he had never publicly dated a woman over the age of 25.
For the last two years, The Wolf of Wall Street actor has been dating 27-year-old Italian model Vittoria Ceretti.
As the Enquirer has previously reported, the Wolf of Wall Street’s ex-loves include famous stars like Gigi Hadid, Blake Lively, Bar Refaeli and Gisele Bündchen.
