White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is firing back at Bad Bunny after the singer, 31, used his Grammys acceptance speech to take aim at Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
After he won the award for Best Música Urbana Album on Sunday, February 1, the Puerto Rican hitmaker, whose full name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, told the audience “ICE out,” before adding that immigrants are “humans” and “Americans,” comments that quickly went viral.

When asked by reporters about the moment on Tuesday, February 3, outside the White House, Leavitt sharply criticized the rapper’s remarks, calling it “frankly sad” and “ironic” that celebrities living in “gated communities with private security with millions of dollars to spend protecting themselves” would attack federal law enforcement officers.
Leavitt also defended “law enforcement who are simply trying to do their jobs to remove violent predators,” and contrasted Bad Bunny’s comments with what she described as silence from celebrities during the previous administration, when violent crimes tied to immigrants lacking permanent status, like the grisly 2022 murder of Laken Riley, made headlines.

President Donald Trump, 79, previously took shots at Bad Bunny, saying the NFL made a “terrible choice” by selecting him as a Super Bowl performer.
