Jenny McCarthy Reveals If She Would Return to ‘The View’ 12 Years After Her Exit

It’s been more than a decade since Jenny McCarthy hosted The View for one season — but would she ever go back?

“They’ve asked me to come back for, like, reunion shows,” McCarthy, 53, said during the Tuesday, January 6, episode of The Katie Miller Podcast, in a preview clip obtained by Us Weekly. “I was like, over my dead body would I ever step foot in that place.”

McCarthy sat alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd, and Barbara Walters throughout season 17, which ran from 2013 to 2014. She revealed during the podcast that she was brought on because the show was “too polarizing,” and she was supposed to help keep things “light and fluffy and fun.”

According to McCarthy, producers hoped she would “review people on Dancing with the Stars [and] talk about The Bachelor.”

“Well, that lasted a week,” she explained. “Back then, I didn’t consider myself to be a political person, which is why I thought I was perfect for the job. After week one, when they said they wanted it political, I was like, ‘Oh, my God. What am I going to do?’ ”

“Getting through that year was really difficult,” she added. “I’m much more political now, in terms of having opinions…but back then I was not.”

McCarthy has previously criticized Goldberg for being “controlling” and likened working with Walters, who she believes was showing early signs of dementia, to the film Mommie Dearest.
