Inside the Rescue of Baby Jessica, Now Known as Jessica McClure Morales, Nearly 4 Decades Ago
Baby Jessica McClure Morales, rescued from a Texas well in 1987, was arrested in 2024 for domestic assault involving family violence at her Midland County home.
Brave rescuers raced against the clock to save “Baby Jessica” from a Texas well in 1987 — but insiders fear the now-40-year-old may have squandered her second chance at life following a shocking arrest.
Jessica McClure Moralesgot cuffed for alleged domestic abuse after cops responded to reports of trouble at her Midland County home on April 11, multiple reports, including TMZ, confirmed.
Jessica was reportedly taken into custody at the scene, and authorities later charged her with assault causing bodily injury involving family violence, the report said.

According to an affidavit, Jessica wrapped her hands around her husband Danny Morales’ throat and allegedly scratched him, per TMZ, via Yahoo.
She was released from the Midland County Detention Center after posting bond.
The couple have been married for 20 years, and reside with their two teen children, Simon and Sheyenne.
Astonishingly, the family doesn’t live far from the abandoned 8-inch-wide shaft Jessica tumbled down as an 18-month-old while playing in her aunt’s backyard.

Lodged 22 feet underground, the little girl sparked a daring 58-hour operation to pull her out alive — a heart-wrenching ordeal watched around the globe thanks to tireless news coverage that halted regular programming on all the major networks, Daily Mail reported.
After emergency crews miraculously freed Jessica — who could be heard singing the Winnie the Pooh theme song as they worked, according to People — the injured tyke underwent 12-plus surgeries, including the amputation of a toe to stop gangrene from spreading through her foot, according to The New York Post.

Her story touched so many people that strangers dug into their pockets to donate an astounding $1.2 million to a trust fund to care for the tiny survivor from Midland, Texas.
“Everybody in America became godmothers and godfathers of Jessica while this was going on,” said then-President Ronald Reagan, per Daily mail.
The attention continued into 1989, with the rehabbed tot accepting an invite to meet President George H.W. Bush — and scoring her own TV movie, Everyone’s Baby: The Rescue of Jessica McClure, which costarred Beau Bridges and Patty Duke, The Pittsburgh Press reported at the time.
Then 3 years old, she even helped promote the flick in Hollywood following a bitter rights battle between production companies.
Jessica claims to have no memory of the event that she continues to be known for and says the money she received from good Samaritans is long gone.

Though the bulk of it apparently vanished during the 2008 stock market dive, the $300,000 that remained mostly went toward buying a marital home with Danny, People reported in 2017.
According to Jessica, the foreman didn’t know of her dramatic past before they got engaged — and considered dumping the former special-education teacher’s aide because he didn’t understand why she kept getting approached by well-wishers in public.
The couple made it down the aisle once her fellow Texas native was told the full truth. However, she admits their biggest challenge these days is money. “But we don’t argue,” she insisted to People in 2017. “We don’t sweat the small stuff and we kind of roll with the punches. We’re not a ‘looks can be deceiving’ kind of family. It’s a happy life.”
Now that familial bliss has seemingly been destroyed, sources say. If convicted of her assault charge, the assistant shop manager could reportedly face up to one year in county jail, a $4,000 fine and mandatory anger management.
