Horse Trapped Under Fallen Oak Tree Walks Away Unharmed After Rescue
A horse was rescued unharmed after it became trapped under a fallen oak tree in California, officials said.
The Cal Fire San Luis Obispo Unit said crews from Engine 50 and Engine 3477 recently responded to assist a horse after an oak tree fell over it, trapping it.
Photos and video shared by the fire department show where the oak’s thick trunk snapped close to the ground. The towering tree, with a mass of thick branches, formed a cage around the horse, which was miraculously uninjured.
Crews used chainsaws to carefully cut away the branches and free the animal, which was safely reunited with its owner.
“This incident is a great example of our commitment to serving the residents of San Luis Obispo County. From fires and medical emergencies to animal rescues, our crews are always ready to help when called,” the fire department said. “Special thanks to Fire Captain Jesse Ryan for coordinating the rescue and capturing these photos!”
