Georgia Burglary Suspect Found Hiding In Air Vent
Police responding to a burglary in progress in Georgia on Monday found the suspect hiding in an air vent.
The DeKalb County Police Department said officers responded Monday to a reported burglary in progress at Atlanta Fixtures and Sales in Chamblee, a suburb of Atlanta. The owner of the business reported seeing a burglar on the roof in a live video feed.
Responding officers, including a K-9 unit and tactical team, established a perimeter and conducted a search of the property. They found “signs of forced entry and tampering” in the building’s HVAC system. With specialized equipment and assistance from K9 Alex, officers ultimately found the suspect hiding in an air vent.
Photos shared by the sheriff’s office show a ladder set up under ceiling tile that has been removed, showing open ductwork.
The suspect was taken into custody, and officers found burglary tools and a firearm in the suspect’s possession. The suspect, whose identity was not immediately released, was charged with burglary and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
