Florida Deputy Sees Man Beat And Drag Woman Across Road And Intervenes, Suspect Still At Large
Authorities in Florida are searching for a suspect spotted chasing and dragging a woman across a busy Daytona Beach road on Thursday.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said Chief Deputy Brian Henderson saw a man beat, chase and drag a woman across Atlantic Avenue in Daytona Beach on Thursday and intervened. The suspect, identified as Scott Glen Knowlton, fled on foot, allegedly “leaving behind his bag, revolver, and trafficking amounts of meth and fentanyl.”
Body-worn camera video shared by the sheriff’s office shows the victim sitting on the side of the street speaking with deputies. A deputy notes that her chin “looks cut up.”
“I’m glad I was here,” Henderson tells the distressed woman.
“I saw [her] trying to get away from him in the street,” Henderson tells another person off camera.
The sheriff’s office said Knowlton is wanted on “several” outstanding warrants, including trafficking fentanyl, in addition to new charges of kidnapping, battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and more related to Thursday’s incident.
The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who spots Knowlton to call 911.
