Counterfeit Luxury Goods Worth $5–10 Million Seized In California, 2 Arrested

Authorities in Los Angeles say they have seized counterfeit luxury goods valued at between $5 million and $10 million and arrested two suspects.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Major Crimes Bureau detectives executed search warrants at two locations in downtown L.A. early Saturday; a commercial warehouse on the 500 Block of Main Street and a retail store on the 500 block of South Los Angeles Street.

Photos shared by the sheriff’s office show stacks upon stacks of boxes allegedly filled with counterfeit luxury goods including designer purses and what appear to be toys form brands including Sanrio. According to the sheriff’s office, if the seized items had been genuine, they would be worth $5 million to $10 million.

Two people, described only as an adult Asian man and an adult Asian woman, were taken into custody.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains active, and additional arrests or charges are possible.
