‘Coop On The Stoop’ Family’s Viral Visit Turns Hotel Del Coronado Into A Social Media Sensation

Viral TikTok sensation Cooper “Coop on the Stoop” O’Brien recently got to enjoy a stoop away from home at San Diegos iconic Hotel del Coronado.

Every morning, Chris OBrien takes his son Cooper outside to the front of their Southern California home while his wife, Hailey, makes breakfast. Cooper sits on the curb when it’s dry, or a little chair when it’s wet, and together, they watch the cars and trucks go by.

In July, Chris started sharing those morning moments on TikTok, and within weeks, millions of people were tuning in to see “Coop on the Stoop,” a term that was coined by a commenter and stuck. Fans worldwide started creating their own stooping videos in Cooper’s honor.

Now, the O’Brien family has more than 350,000 followers on the @obrienbois TikTok page, with videos receiving millions of views.

The family recently took a trip to Hilton’s Hotel Del Coronado, a historic landmark, where Cooper got to enjoy sitting on a variety of new stoops, play in the pool, visit the beach, and eat some s’mores. Hilton kept the fun going after their stay by suggesting a new “stoop snack” for Cooper — the iconic DoubleTree cookie.

A video recap of the O’Brien family trip has been viewed more than 1.4 million times across platforms, and Hilton says the Coop effect is real, with fans now eyeing the Hotel Del Coronado for their own trips.

Chris has taken to signing off each video with “And well be here,” a poignant affirmation of life as the family recently grieved the death of Hailey’s father. Now the family is preparing for a second child, and Coop on the Stoop will be there, keeping a place warm for his sibling.
