Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, is opening up about her relationship with Vice President JD Vance following the assassination of her husband.
The businesswoman, 36, appeared on the Wednesday, November 5, episode of Jesse Watters Primetime to talk about how her world has dramatically changed since the right-wing political activist was shot and killed on September 10 at age 31.
Weeks after Kirk’s sudden death, she introduced VP Vance, 41, at a Turning Point USA event at the University of Mississippi on October 29, and their intimate embrace went viral.
During the Jesse Watters Primetime interview, Fox News’ Jesse Watters was at the Turning Point USA event with Erika and asked about the support she’s received from Vance and his wife, Usha, before she took the stage.
“He’s been a blessing,” the Turning Point CEO told Watters, describing Vance and his wife, 39, as “the most incredible people” who have “such genuine love.”
“I mean, just everything they did for us was so humanized,” she continued. “They just were there for us. They’ve been there for us.”
Introducing Vance that night, Erika told the crowd, “No one will ever replace my husband. But I do see some similarities of my husband in JD — in Vice President JD Vance. I do. And that’s why I am so blessed to be able to introduce him tonight.”
During their hug, Erika moved her hand to the back of Vance’s head, while his hands were seen by her waist, prompting the moment to go viral.
On the Jesse Watters Primetime interview, Watters also asked Erika if she felt safe that night being on a college campus, to which she replied: “Yes because I feel Charlie with me here.”

Kirk’s sudden death gained national attention after he was killed while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, as part of his American Comeback Tour. The alleged shooter, Tyler James Robinson, is facing multiple charges, including one count of aggravated murder. During a hearing on September 29, Robinson did not enter a plea, according to CBS News.
Erika — who shares two young children with her late husband — also recalled what it was like seeing Charlie in the hospital before he was pronounced dead that afternoon, saying he had a smirk on his face.
“That smirk to me is that look of ‘you thought you could stop what I’ve built. You thought that you could end this vision, this movement, this revival, you thought you could do that by murdering me. You got my body, you didn’t get my soul,’” she said.
