CBP Intercepts Shipment Of Meth From Utah Bound For Paris

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers recently intercepted a shipment of methamphetamine that was being mailed from Utah to Paris, France.

CBP officers at Washington Dulles International Airport on July 10 inspected a parcel from Utah County, Utah, destined for Paris, and manifested as a marble vase. Inside, however, officers found two plastic-wrapped packages containing methamphetamine hydrochloride.

In total, the packages contained 1.87 kilograms, or 4.1 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $40,000.

CBP said the investigation remains ongoing, and no arrests have been made.

“Customs and Border Protection officers inspect hundreds to thousands of international mail parcels every day that are found to be legitimate so it is rewarding when our officers’ diligent efforts are rewarded with the discovery and seizure of dangerous drugs like this crystal meth,” said CBP Area Port Director Christine Waugh, Area Port of Washington, D.C. “Intercepting illicit narcotics shipped through our ports of entry remains an enforcement priority for CBP and these inspections contribute to keeping Americans and our allies safe.”
